DESCRIPTION:Date: September 25\, 2024\nTime: 10:30 – 15:30\nCost: HIEDA/BSA Member Rate: £175\, HIEDA/BSA Affiliate Member Fee: £250\, Non-member Rate: £350*\nAudience: This seminar is suitable for practitioners working with boarding students and in residential care/accommodation settings.\nPlatform: Zoom (online) – seminar\n\n\nCourse outline: \nThis virtual seminar is an introduction for new Nurses entering the world of day and boarding independent school nursing and for practising School Nurses to broaden their knowledge. The day will offer the opportunity to meet other Nurses working in similar settings as well as learning where and how to access key guidance and information to run a Medical Centre within a school.  \nThe content is specific to the independent school environment and focuses on life outside NHS or private medical provision. Attending this training will help Nurses moving into the environment familiarise themselves with processes\, procedures and responsibilities unique to the sector.  \nTraining topics will include: \n\nSafeguarding\nRoles and responsibilities\nPolicies and protocols (medicines management)\nConfidentiality and consent\nRelevant Standards for Boarding Inspections and the wider role.\n\nLearning outcomes: \n\nTo understand nursing and the role of nurses in the school setting \nTo promote high standards of care for all children \nTo work within the guidance required in the UK. \n\nBOOK NOW \n\nSpeaker: \nAshley Mason \nAshley is a registered paramedic and has been the Health Services Manager at St Peter’s School\, York since 2018. He is a member of the School’s Operations Team and Health and Safety Committee. Ashley sits on the statutory Health and Wellbeing Board for the City of York and has previously services as an NHS Trust governor.
