The Duke of York’s Royal Military School is a non-selective state boarding school for students aged 11 to 18, located on a beautiful 150 acre site and offering a broad range of GCSEs and A-levels.

Why choose us?

  • Students enjoy an Independent School atmosphere at an affordable price. £3,940 per term* covers ALL the boarding costs, with the education paid for by the State.

  • Students have the flexibility of full or weekly boarding.

  • We have been graded 'Good' in all areas by Ofsted.

  • Students enjoy an active lifestyle, with all key sports played including rugby, netball, hockey, cricket and athletics. Over 70 clubs and activities are offered.

  • A £24.9m building programme has just been completed to enhance our already impressive school site and facilities including new boarding houses, teaching blocks, drama studio, art loft, sports centre, running track and climbing wall.

  • We work in partnership with a range of different schools locally, nationally and internationally in Performing Arts.

  • We enjoy frequent involvement in high profile National events. In November 2015 they were chosen to take part in Remembrance Day events at Westminster Abbey, the Royal Albert Hall and in Flanders. Then in January 2016 our impressive Military Band was invited to play at the Sun Military Awards.

  • We often welcome important visitors to the School. In September 2015, we proudly welcomed Prince Harry, who presented senior prefects with their medals and spoke at length with the students, discussing their future career plans. The story went global with news channels in Australia, America and Brazil reporting on his surprise visit.

  • Our ceremonial parades and military band performances ensure we stand out from other schools. At our annual Grand Day celebrations our students perform a full Trooping of the Colour Ceremony at which the whole School parades in ceremonial uniform accompanied by the School's military band

  • The unique ethos at our School helps promote character and life skills, with students encouraged to achieve their potential within a supportive community.

  • We offer a full CCF programme, a yearly Adventure Training week, the Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme and biannual international expeditions - Dukies love a challenge!

* fees reviewable each academic year.
