Advisory Service
The BSA responds to requests for advice from anyone interested in Boarding Education. Because there are specialist advisors for independent boarding education specifically ISCias and the DfE, for state boarding education, requests for advice on choosing a specific school are, usually, channelled through these advisors.
As of April 2007, inspection of boarding in both independent and state schools, has been conducted by Ofsted. Inspectors still relate to the National Minimum Standards for Boarding, but inspection reports now fall under the five outcomes of Every Child Matters.
The five outcomes are:
- Be healthy
- Stay safe
- Enjoy and achieve
- Make a positive contribution
- Achieve economic wellbeing
Boarding inspections are conducted at least every three years.
