An aspiring swimming star and sports scholar will be aiming for further international success with the Welsh national squad later this month.
Zach Speakman, a Year 11 pupil at Rydal Penrhos, will be part of the Swim Wales contingent that travel to Luxembourg for the International Meet, which will take place from Wednesday, January 23 until Monday 28.
The 16-year-old has enjoyed a standout career to date and further enhanced his growing reputation as one of the brightest prospects anywhere in the country at the recent Winter National Championships.
Competing against older and more experienced opposition, Zach produced another scintillating display throughout to emerge from the event with two Golds, one silver and a bronze as a result of his outstanding efforts in the water.
This feat was made even more significant by the fact that Zach took his chance in senior events, with the field primarily consisting of University students.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “This represents another exceptional achievement from Zach, who has really come of age in recent months thanks to his sterling commitment to getting better each and every day.
“His experience with the Swim Wales squad has done his confidence and overall development a considerable amount of good, and hopefully he can continue his outstanding form for his country in Luxembourg.”
