Millfield’s Director of Netball Jenna Culley will join Welsh Netball’s senior management team as Assistant Coach, alongside her role at Millfield.
Jenna will assist Wales Head Coach Julie Hoornweg, who coached Wales at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, alongside the previous England Assistant Coach, Sara Hale, as the squad prepare for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
Millfield Netball has strong links with a number of Superleague franchises, with athletes playing at U17, U19 and U21 National Performance League level. Millfield is also home to one of the U17 Severn Stars Nova Academies, which provides weekly court and strength and conditioning sessions for athletes aspiring to progress within the franchise.
Pupils at Millfield will now benefit from Jenna’s experience with the Welsh national team, along with her experience from Severn Stars where she is currently in her second year as Head Coach of the U21 NPL squad, as well as coaching the U17 squad.
Jenna says, “I am really excited to be working with Welsh Netball. It’s a great oppourtunity and I feel priviledged to work with such a fantastic coaching team and group of players. I am looking forward to the journey ahead, focusing on the next Commonwealth Games and sharing my experiences with players at Millfield along the way.”
Millfield Director of Sport, Dr Scott Drawer, says: “It is fantastic news that Jenna will be working with the Welsh national netball squad, bringing such valuable knowledge and experience back to netball players here at Millfield. Jenna has shown that she is an expert in nurturing and developing young talent, and I have no doubt that she use her role at Millfield as a source for finding national and international talent.”
