A group of Preparatory School pupils got a taste of boarding life thanks to a special event.
The Year 5 group of Daisy Yates, Grace Watkins, Keira Luke, Fflur Pierce and Freya Berklay spent the evening at the girls’ boarding house at Rydal Penrhos to mark The Big Sleepover, which was a nationwide initiative organised by the Boarding Schools’ Association as part of National Boarding Week.
There was plenty of activities for the visitors to enjoy during their stay, which began with a delicious curry supper delivered by the school’s recently appointed catering providers Holroyd Howe.
This was followed by jigsaw puzzles and making origami in the common room, before they also got the chance to watch popular TV shows such as Take Me Out and You’ve Been Framed alongside other Edwards House boarding pupils.
They ended their night with tea and toast before retiring to their rooms, and following a good night’s sleep, they congregated in the dining room to enjoy breakfast before beginning their Prep School day.
All five commented that the sleepover was “so much fun” and that staff at the boarding house “made things very easy and were so helpful”.
The event concluded a busy week of activities to mark National Boarding Week, which runs from June 18-24.
Edwards Housemaster Fiona Earle, said: “Daisy, Fflur, Keira, Grace and Freya all had a wonderful time and really made the very most out of their first boarding experience with us here at Rydal Penrhos.
“Boarding is a huge part of what makes Rydal Penrhos such a fantastic place to live and learn, and hopefully each of them got an enormous amount out of this experience.”
