Members of Millfield Music School’s premier chamber choir, Camerata, took part in a masterclass and performed with the award-winning chamber choir, Tenebrae.
During the vocal training session, Camerata singers worked with Tenebrae’s director, Nigel Short (pictured), on their repertoire for upcoming performances. The acclaimed maestro has conducted a number of world-famous orchestras, including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and commented on Camerata’s power and energy.
Camerata and Tenebrae then joined together for a rousing rendition of Hubert Parry’s ‘My Soul, There is a Country’ from his Songs of Farewell during Tenebrae’s evening concert as part of Millfield’s International Concert Series.
Millfield’s Director of Music, Matthew Cook, said: “We are exceptionally fortunate to be in a position to welcome vocal groups such as Tenebrae to Millfield. The masterclass with Nigel was stimulating throughout and the performance with Tenebrae exhilarating till the last note. Personally, watching Millfield sing with one of the world’s leading vocal ensembles was a very special moment for me, and I hope the experience serves as inspiration for our pupils.”
