King's Ely student Tabitha Lacey helped the Team England ParaCheer squad win Gold at the ICU World Cheerleading Championships 2018.

Tabitha, who is in Year 8 at King’s Ely Junior and has been cheerleading for several years with Affinity Cheer and Dance in Soham, travelled out to Florida in the United States to compete in the World Championships on April 26th.

She was competing with Team England ParaCheer, the first integrated national team of disabled and non-disabled cheerleading athletes, and they wowed the judges to secure a Gold prize.

Head of King’s Ely Junior, Richard Whymark, said: “Tabitha’s commitment and enthusiasm for cheerleading with the Paracheer squad has been admirable. She and the team’s achievements show that by pursuing something you feel passionately about, you can achieve your dreams. We are very proud of Tabitha’s success and the example she has become to other children too.”
