All Hallows children thrilled to have some exotic visitors from Longleat
6th March 2018

Longleat staff recently came to All Hallows school bringing some special visitors from their animal collection.

Our reception and nursery children were thrilled to have a visit from the Longleat Safari Park team to their classroom, bringing a selection of fun and exotic animals with them for the children to see.

The zookeepers introduced the class to cockroaches, chocolate millipedes, albino ferrets, guinea pigs, pythons, an armadillo and a tarantula. All the children were incredibly brave as they held and stroked the animals, as instructed by the team. The pupils really enjoyed sharing their prior knowledge with the visitors and they learnt a huge array of new facts and information about the animals. They also had the opportunity to have lots of hands-on experience and learnt about the role of a zookeeper at Longleat Safari Park.

Our Reception teacher, Mrs Rooney, also brought along her pet Rankin dragon lizard and the children demonstrated great care when handling him.

The whole visit was a great experience for the children, and one they will not forget for a long time; there are definitely some future zoo keepers in the making at All Hallows!
