A talented Sixth Form pupil at Rydal Penrhos has reached the national final of a prestigious sporting event for the second consecutive year.

Samantha Randall, an Upper Sixth Form pupil at the school, was part of the squad that travelled to compete at the Eryri Cross-Country Championships, which were held in Dolgellau on Tuesday, February 20.

The 18-year-old produced a memorable effort to come away with third in the Girls’ competition, which ensured her qualification to the Welsh Schools’ Championships, which will take place on Wednesday, March 7 in Brecon.

The boarding pupil has been working hard with Rydal Penrhos’ dedicated Strength and Conditioning team in the lead-up to the event, and this is the second time in as many years that she will compete in the national showcase.

Samantha was part of the Eryri team that took home the team Gold from last year’s championships alongside fellow pupils Mollie Smithfield and Samiya Garrod.

Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “This was another fantastic achievement from Samantha and we are thrilled with the progress she has made under the supervision of our staff here at Rydal Penrhos.

“Hopefully her experience of competing at national level will stand her in good stead as she looks to achieve further success in at the national event, and we will be working hard with her in the next fortnight to ensure Sam is full prepared for the challenge ahead.”
