Prep School Swim squad wins IAPS Gala
9th February 2018

Preparatory School swimming stars came away with recognition from a regional event this week.

The group achieved a host of accolades from the Area 7 IAPS Gala on Monday, February 5, which was held at Rydal Penrhos’ swimming pool and featured Pownall Hall School, Ashbridge School and Altrincham Prep School.

Among the triumphs was the performance of the Year 5 and 6 girls’ squad, who produced a memorable showing to come away with the winning trophy.

The boys’ squad managed to secure second spot for their efforts, and thanks to a positive outing from the Year 3 and 4 girls’ squad, it confirmed Rydal Penrhos as worthy winners of the gala.

Vice-Captain Isabella Peevor picked up the shield as skipper James Gilman was unable to participate.

Head of Swimming Maciej Ruszkowski, said: “This was a very pleasing performance from the entire squad and I would like to congratulate them on their wonderful efforts.

“They all worked very hard in the lead-up to both this and the Urdd National Gala, and their development over the current academic year is something that each of them can be very proud of.

“On behalf of everyone at Rydal Penrhos I would like to thank Pownall Hall School, Ashbridge School and Altrincham Prep School for taking the time to compete, and they all acquitted themselves very well which made for a fantastic Gala.”
