Sixth Form eco committee holds Green Week to raise awareness
7th February 2018

Eco warriors at Rydal Penrhos organised a series of events as part of a successful awareness initiative.

The school held its Green Week from January 29 until February 2, which was organised by the Sixth Form Eco Committee to raise funds and awareness thanks to a series of activities.

The events began with Meat Free Monday, where pupils and staff went through the day without eating any meat products.

Tuesday saw an eco-themed Art Competition where groups came up with environmentally friendly creations using only recycled products, and this was followed by a screening of the hit series Blue Planet on Wednesday during enrichment sessions.

The week closed out with a cake sale on Friday, while pupils and staff came to school wearing green for a small donation.

Head of Sixth Form Pete Lavery, said: “This was another very worthwhile week put on by our pupils, and full credit goes to Elinor Davies and her Eco Committee for their efforts.

“It is vitally important that future generations are full understanding of the effect that climate change is having on their day-to-day lives both now and in the future, and events such as this go a long way to heightening that awareness and getting people more involved in eco-related projects at Rydal Penrhos.”
