A Rydal Penrhos pupil is set to continue his education at a world-renowned university.
Ben Gibson, an Upper Sixth Form pupil at the school, has been offered a conditional place at Cambridge University after impressing throughout the strenuous selection process, which receives more than 15,000 applications each year.
The 17-year-old plans to study History providing he achieves the necessary A-Level qualifications needed to seal his place at one of the finest higher education establishments in the world.
It has been a busy few months for the pupil, who recently launched a new school newspaper alongside Elinor Davies entitled The RePorter, which features contributions from a number of pupils across various age groups.
He is also a talented violinist and played a huge contributing role in the success of Rydal Penrhos’ Christmas Concert, while his performances in the Dramatic Society productions of To Kill a Mockingbird and Annie drew widespread plaudits.
Head of Sixth Form Pete Lavery, said: “I am delighted that Ben has been offered a place at Cambridge.
“As a voracious reader with a keen interest in current affairs and, of course, History I am sure he will be in his element there.
“We wish Ben every success in his Upper Sixth year as he works to meet the conditions of the offer.”
