The October half-term marked the move for our 6th form boarders into a new, multi-million pound refurbishment of Liverpool University’s Derby & Rathbone Halls of Residence, a two minute walk across the road from school.
Each student has their own smartly furnished bedroom with en-suite while the accommodation boasts a total of nine kitchen/dining rooms, three TV/media rooms, a table tennis room and twelve 40” smart TVs. Add to that, the fact that cleaners come in three times a week and it feels a little bit like living in a 4* hotel! Five basketball, football and tennis courts a few steps away at the end of our garden make these facilities second to none for any student considering boarding at Liverpool College as an option for 6th form.
Our Boarders have settled well into the routines of College and living away from home, involving themselves in the wider, extra curricular life of the school, playing rugby, assisting with football coaching, playing musical instruments, taking part in drama productions and making great use of Body & Mind, our excellent gym facility. Each weekend has seen a variety of activities taking place including kayaking, go-karting, paint balling, trips to Southport, Chester Christmas markets, Manchester and this weekend ice skating and bowling. Socially, we have had 7 birthday celebrations so far and a fantastic boarder’ Founders’ Day Dinner with invited staff and student guests from 6th Form including Head Boy, Sam Riley and Head Girl, Eva Brown.
