A charity event held by the Friends of Rydal Penrhos committee raised hundreds of pounds for a national cancer charity.

The Cake Sale, which was held on Thursday, October 18, managed to raise a total of £250 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

A host of tasty treats were on display for pupils, staff and parents to purchase, which were kindly baked and donated by people associated with the school.

Those that came along also got the opportunity to view some of the fantastic items that the committee had purchase for various departments at Rydal Penrhos thanks to their tireless fundraising efforts, including the vehicle construct by Design and Technology pupils as part of the Greenpower project and the newly formed Year 8 Lego League team consisting of Chay Bonnington, Gregor Perry, Jacob Cousins, Henry Battersby and Noah Langford.

Another prominent feature was the new Virtual Reality suite, which have already proved to be a popular learning aid at both Prep and Senior school sites.

Alumni and Development director Sarah Ritchie, said: “Thanks so much to everyone who donated cakes, volunteered to man the stall, and who came to eat cake on Thursday - we managed to raise a fabulous £250 for Macmillan Cancer Support.”

Macmillan Cancer Support was founded in 1911 and is now the largest cancer care and support charity in the UK.

It provides care to thousands of cancer suffers throughout the country, and has raised over £600,000 to date from their coffee morning initiative.
