World’s Only All-Girls Robotics Team Head to China for Another Televised Competition
10th October 2017

As we eagerly await the official announcement of Brentwood School’s involvement in the upcoming series of BBC2 Robot Wars (embargoed until 11th October); the students have been busy setting their sights further afield.

Two months ago Brentwood School was approached to enter the first ever televised robot fighting competition in China and are one of 42 teams worldwide. The school is sending an all-female team of engineers who have designed a robot that will be pitted against professional teams from all over the world. Not only is this the only international school team, but the only all-female team in the world to be invited to China. The students' involvement in this challenging project is being studied by King’s College London for its educational impact.

The team’s aim is to encourage more girls to consider studying subjects and pathways relevant to STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).

Their top secret design has touched down in Shanghai where it will be joined by the pupils on Thursday 12th October. Their teacher Mr Walland has been impressed by the way the students have approached this complex STEM project.

The girls are really keen to inspire others with their story so if you would like to hear more information on this unique story please let me know and we will be happy to answer questions, send photographs and can organise interviews with the students.

The team can be found on Twitter (@robotexpulsion)
