After receiving its best ever International Baccalaureate results last month, Bromsgrove School has just registered its highest ever A level results both
in terms of A* and A to B grade averages.
199 pupils sat 650 A levels (and 45 BTEC qualifications). 27.3% of all results were at A*, 61.6% were at A* and A, while 88.6% were at A*to B. The average
UCAS point score per A level candidate was 450, equivalent to A*A*A at A level with an additional AS level. (The School’s International Baccalaureate UCAS
average was even higher at 510). 32 pupils achieved four or more A and A* grades at A level while many subjects (ranging from Maths to Latin) saw over two
thirds of their entry score A* and A grades. The four local Heads of School scored seventeen A* and A grades between them at A and extra AS levels. Fred
Alford and Maxime Cox led the local Oxbridge charge with 10 A* between them.
Headmaster Chris Edwards said: “Once again I am delighted and humbled by the pupils’ performance. These are massive cohorts taking the traditional
difficult subjects, and after July’s International Baccalaureate success, I wondered if we’d seen all the good news. I was wrong: these results are close
to miraculous given that, on paper at least, this was supposed to be a weaker cohort than last year. My unreserved congratulations to staff, parents and,
again, the pupils themselves. This is a year we will never forget.”
Flair, Discipline, Academic Rigour. In the words of the Good Schools Guide; “a remarkably impressive and exciting school driven with imagination and
dynamism by an exceptional head. It produces engaged, friendly, unstuffy and highly successful pupils who thrive within an excellent academic and pastoral
environment with national standard sports”. Bromsgrove offers outstanding results and stunning value added performance.
