Felsted U15 girls’ cricket team have finished their successful season with a second National win after beating Kent College and Millfield in the National U15 Girls’ T20 Championship.
Earlier on in the season they were also crowned U15 Lady Taverners Indoor Cricket Champions after beating Shrewsbury School, Old Buckenham High School and St Aidan’s High School in the National Final at the famous Lord’s Cricket Ground.
The Felsted girls were given a chance to celebrate their double National Win with World Cup Winners, Sarah Taylor and Laura Marsh at Essex County Cricket Club, where the England Women’s Team were playing a pre-season game in preparation for their Ashes tour later this year.
Super League Cricketer and Felsted Girls’ Cricket coach, Carla Rudd comments: “The Felsted U15 girls have had a fantastic season and I am very proud of what they have achieved. Not many teams can say they are double National Champions, both indoors and outdoors. Both their cricketing skills and knowledge have come a long way this year and I look forward to seeing what we can achieve next season.”
Cricket has been a core sport for girls for a number of years, alongside tennis, and is a popular option. Felsted is currently nominated as an Inspirational School for girls’ cricket by Essex CCC and became a MCCF (Marylebone Cricket Club Foundation) hub for girls’ cricket in November 2015.
