Pupils from Brentwood Preparatory School took part in a piece of history yesterday (Monday 3rd July) morning as they joined their Headmaster Jason Whiskerd, Senior School Headmaster Ian Davies, Bursar Mr Matthew Davis, Governor Emeritus Mr Colin Finch, and Governors, The Venerable David Lowman and Mrs Jenny Jones, for the burying of two special time capsules.
The event was organised as part of the Prep 125 celebrations to celebrate the 125th Anniversary of the Preparatory School. The time capsules contained items such as their current uniform, the School magazine, photographs, maths equipment, a fidget spinner, a minion toy, and some coins.
Pupils represented each of the twelve Headmasters and Headmistresses from Miss Brimley in 1892 to Mr Whiskerd today with a short account of how the world looked during their tenures. Following that, the Venerable David Lowman lead the crowd in prayer and everyone sang ‘All Things Bright and Beautiful’ as the sun appeared in the Walled Garden for the burial of the capsules by Mr Colin Finch.
Mr Whiskerd read out the inscription on the plaque attached to the wall above the burial site, which included the instruction to future pupils to dig up the capsule 25 years from now during the 150th Anniversary, and the question:
“How will the School have changed in a quarter of a century?”
