Staff at Rydal Penrhos once again claimed bragging rights as the school’s version of a popular ITV quiz show came to a dramatic conclusion.
As part of a series of events organised by the school in support of National Boarding Week, a host of teams descended on the Ferguson Centre on Thursday, June 22 for the final stage of the Rydal Penrhos Chase.
Eight teams made up of representatives of the five boarding houses, a staff team and one from Year 9 and Year 10 respectively had one minute to build up their cash reserves by answering general knowledge questions before coming up against a Chaser in the hope of reaching the final.
After a competitive series of chases, Lower Sixth pupil Harry Dean made it through to the final where he took on the might of Head of Business Studies and ICT Mike Farnell.
Unfortunately for the 17-year-old the experience of Mr Farnell won the day and gave staff a double success on the week after their victory in the Inflatable Obstacle Course race earlier this week.
Deputy Head and quizmaster Tim Cashell, said: “It was another fun-filled event which saw plenty of our pupils getting one over on our staff chasers.
“However, experience won the day in the end but not before a valiant effort from Harry, who gave Mr Farnell a run for his money before eventually falling to defeat.
“National Boarding Week has brought with it an enormous amount of enthusiasm from each member of the Rydal Penrhos community, which has been very pleasing and I would like to thank everybody for their efforts.”
