Staff and pupils at Rydal Penrhos made a splash as part of a special event for a nationwide initiative.
Teams gathered at the school’s Swimming Pool on Monday, June 19, where they competed against each other in the inaugural Inflatable Obstacle Course Race, which drew a huge crowd of supporters who cheered the competitors on throughout.
The event was one of a series of activities Rydal Penrhos has scheduled in support of National Boarding Week, which is held from June 19-25.
After a hotly contested evening of action, the staff team consisting of Larissa Gibson-Smith, Jim Lewis, Hannah Freeman, Paul Sanders and Pete Lavery were crowned the winners, making it a treble of victories following their recent success at Golf and Football events.
Close behind in second were Walshaw House, with Beecholme coming in third.
The booby prize went to Hathaway after a comical run across the course, with the efforts of Year 10 pupil Michael Thomas set to live long in the memory.
The inflatable obstacle course was recently purchase for the pool by the Friends of Rydal Penrhos Committee and is available to hire for private parties.
Deputy Head Tim Cashell, said: “This was a highly entertaining event throughout and it was great to see so many of our staff and pupils getting into the spirit of National Boarding Week.
“It has been a hugely successful year for staff in various events against our pupils, and whether this is a trend that can continue throughout the week remains to be seen!”
