Brentwood School Orienteers Take East Anglian Title

Brentwood School’s hardy bunch of orienteers finished the season in style yesterday scooping a haul of medals and taking the East Anglian Schools' Orienteering Championship!

Twelve schools took part in the event held at Hornchurch Country Park which was also the final event of the 2016-17 SWELL (South & West Essex Local League) season.

Head of Orienteering, Mrs Rachel Barford, praised the young team: “Even if you didn't win a medal, each and every one of you contributed a huge amount to getting the team the winner’s podium.” 

Results were:

Year 7/8 Girls’ Individual (Yellow course)

Gold medal: Kate Bowie-Britton

Silver medal:  Sarah Prior

Bronze Medal: Janie Horton

Year 7/8 team:

Gold medal:  Kate Bowie-Britton, Sarah Prior and Janie Horton

Year 9/10 Girls’ Individual (Orange course)

Gold medal:  Emma Bowie-Britton

Silver medal:  Jessica Mills

Year 11 & Above, Boys’ Individual (Light Green course)

Gold medal:  Luke Cooper

Overall School Team champions, winning gold medals and silver plate:

Kate Bowie-Britton, Emma Bowie-Britton, Sarah Prior/Jessica Mills and Luke Cooper

Headmaster Ian Davies added: “This is outstanding news. Many congratulations to everyone involved in this great team effort.”
