In the last week of the Easter holidays, twenty-four pupils travelled with three members of staff to the Catalunya Tennis Resort in Spain where they received four hours of intensive tennis coaching each day over five days.
Trip organiser, Spencer Coates commented, “Playing on the red clay, which was a new surface to most, the coaching was first rate with technique, drills and match play all covered and the pupils all made clear improvements with their tennis. Barely a cloud was seen in the sky all week but the pupils coped well with the conditions. Miranda Joicey (17) was voted (by the coaches) as the player of the tour but this award could have gone to any of the pupils.”
As in previous tours, the older pupils were able to find time around their tennis to do some academic revision and hopefully returned to School well prepared for their academic challenges but also for the coming tennis season.
Pupil, Lucy Stock (17) commented, “We had an amazing week in the Spanish sun with intensive training and a little time for sunbathing. Each of us brought something different back from our holiday, working with talented coaches who greatly improved our skills as individuals and as doubles players. It was a super week which everyone really enjoyed.”
