Brentwood School’s orienteers were in action in the beautiful woods of Writtle Forest on Sunday pitting their wits against fellow competitors on some very testing courses.
The eight competition routes were tougher than expected and 16-year-old Luke Cooper fared especially well against much older competition on the very challenging Green, 5.1km trail.
Luke, who is in the Lower Sixth, came home 20th in a time of 63.03, while Third Year, Emma Bowie-Britton, finished the same route in 48th spot in a time of 123.23.
Onlookers, including several herd of bemused deer, enjoyed Sunday’s glorious spring sunshine. The School’s other four team members put in creditable performances on the Yellow 2.1km course: Stephanie Cooper finished 2nd in a time of 21.40 just 29 seconds off the leader; Janie Horton was 5th in 31.11; Kate Bowie-Britton 9th in 38.55, and Sarah Prior 10th in 39.18.
