New Head Appointed At Wellington School
3rd May 2013

Wellington School is delighted to announce the appointment of Henry Price as its next Head, replacing Martin Reader who will move to Cranleigh in September 2014 after eight years of outstanding leadership and service. Henry is currently the Senior Housemaster at Rugby School.

After reading Classics at Oxford, Henry started his teaching career at Sydney Grammar School and then Sherborne. In his twelve years at Rugby, Henry has been Head of Classics and Housemaster of Sheriff House. He is married to Mary, who has worked in marketing and they have four young children.

Phil Nunnerley, Chairman of the Governing Body, states: “I am delighted with this appointment and believe that Henry is the ideal candidate to lead Wellington forward for the next generation of Wellingtonians. He is a man of vision, warmth and integrity, and he understands the deep-rooted culture and sense of community that are at the centre of all that Wellington stands for. "

Henry comments, “It is a great privilege to have been appointed as the next Head of Wellington School and the Price family are looking forward to becoming a part of the school and broader community of Wellington.

In Wellington, I see a school with a clear ethos for educating the whole pupil within a strong pastoral and spiritual frame. I am extremely excited about working in an environment where academic excellence and intellectual fulfillment are nurtured, but also where there is a wonderful breadth of extra-curricular involvement and a clear sense of values.

The sense of pride and affection for Wellington is clear from everyone that I have met and I feel very fortunate to be inheriting such a flourishing school and leading it forward in the years ahead.”
