Milton Abbey School is delighted to announce that Magnus Bashaarat will succeed Gareth Doodes as Headmaster from 1 January 2014.
Magnus was educated at King's School Canterbury and Edinburgh University, where he read English Literature. He has worked in a variety of schools, having taught English and Drama at Sherborne, a year on exchange at Sydney Grammar School, being a Housemaster at Eton and presently being Deputy Head at Stowe. His interests range from the theatre to rowing and cricket and also include being a trustee of The Royal and Derngate Theatre, involvement in the Prince's Trust and being a prep school governor and schools’ inspector.
Commenting on the appointment, the Chairman of Governors, James Barnes said: ‘The process has been incredibly thorough and we are confident that in Magnus Bashaarat we have a leader of quality to take the School forward.’ He continued: ‘ Magnus has a great interest in all aspects of education and more importantly a strong belief in the education on offer at Milton Abbey. Both he and his wife, Camilla, bring with them a great enthusiasm for boarding school life which will undoubtedly ensure the continued success of the School.
Milton Abbey is a co-educational boarding and day school for ages 13-18 situated between Blandford Forum and Dorchester in Dorset.
