January may be a month of cutbacks for many, but for Oswestry School pupils the New Year began with a generous donation of £2,279.65 to local charity Hope House.
Hope House was the school’s designated charity this for September to December 2016 and pupils found different ways to raise the final figure. Just over half the donation originated from a Christmas Enterprise Fair held by pupils for staff, parents and friends of the school while the remainder derived from fundraising events including a ‘home’ clothes day and a raffle.
The cheque was presented to Hope House representative, Lynsey Kilvert, who commented, “It’s wonderful to receive donations like this. The children’s fundraising efforts mean so much to everyone at Hope House and without this support we would not be able to provide much needed assistance to families who rely on us”.
