A talented table tennis star at Rydal Penrhos made his national debut recently.
Abhishek Bathula, a Year 10 pupil at the school, was selected for the Wales squad and made his first ever appearance for his country at the Stiga 2* TT Tournament, which was held in Blackpool on Sunday, November 13.
The gifted 14-year-old reached the semi-finals of the U15 category after a number of impressive victories, which will stand him in good stead as he looks to gain further national honours in the future.
This is the latest in a long line of successes for the pupil, who was part of the Conwy county team that gained a bronze medal from Gemau Cymru in July.
He recently won came away with the U15 Cadet category at the Burton on Trent Table Tennis Tournament, while also reaching the quarter finals in the U18 tournament despite his tender age.
He is currently playing for Rhyl Community Table Tennis Club and has represented North Wales, winning gold and silver medals at a number of national events.
The earned his selection after training with the Welsh development squad and is the youngest player currently performing in the Llandudno and District Table Tennis League.
