A former Rydal Penrhos pupil is seeking donations for a friend who was involved in a serious crash last month.
Harri Jones, of Coed y Glyn, Wrexham, was put in a medically-induced coma in Kavos after he was hit by a truck while riding a quad bike in the early hours of Wednesday, July 17.
Friend and ex-pupil Efan Jones, together with other friends and family, have been gathering donations on an online fundraising page, which has raised more than £17,000 so far.
Following the crash, which occurred on the first day of the 18 year-old’s holiday, Harri suffered a fractured skull and cheekbone, while also losing sight in one eye.
A post from Harri’s mother and father on their GoFundMe page, said: “We are both touched and humbled by this support shown for Harri. It shows what truly amazing friends and family he has.
“Unfortunately the process for Harri to be gradually woken from the coma today could not be carried out as he had a high temperature and the doctors don't want to take any risks.
“As of yet we don't know when they will be able to try again but thankfully he remains comfortable and stable, so the news is still positive.
“We promise we will make sure he knows how much he is loved by everyone. Thank you all."
Mr Jones, who works at a hotel, was wearing a helmet and had insurance but it did not cover riding quad bikes.
