A talented table tennis star at Rydal Penrhos achieved success at a national competition.
Abhishek Bathula, a Year 9 pupil at the school, was part of the Conwy county team that gained a bronze medal from Gemau Cymru, which was held on Saturday, July 2.
The 14 year-old was in stunning form throughout the Welsh National Games, and is another significant achievement in what has been a tremendous season to date.
He recently won came away with the U15 Cadet category at the Burton on Trent Table Tennis Tournament, while also reaching the quarter finals in the U18 tournament despite his tender age.
He is currently playing for Rhyl Community Table Tennis Club and has represented North Wales, winning gold and silver medals at a number of national events.
The Rydal Penrhos pupil has also been invited to train with the Welsh development squad and is the youngest players currently performing in the Llandudno and District Table Tennis League.
Abhishek is one of a number of pupils who achieved success at the games, with Josh Lynch and Josh Thomas also bringing home honours back to North Wales.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “Congratulations go to Abhishek on what was another outstanding performance which further outlines his table tennis talent.
“He receives special one-to-one coaching here at Rydal Penrhos, which has done his game a tremendous amount of good.
“It is great to see all his hard work paying off and if he continues his development then his potential is limitless.”
