Tom speaks out for Cancer Research
16th June 2016

Year 6 Oswestry School Bellan House pupil, Tom Evans, recently completed his English Speaking Board (ESB) exam talking about his pink sheep and how, together, they are hoping to raise £5,000 for Cancer Research.

Tom’s grandmother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and this spurred Tom to do something special as a thank you to the medical profession for providing so much care.

Tom’s love of sheep showing started at a very young age. He has been selected as the young handler of the year in the Kerry Hill Society for the past 2 years. Over the past year Tom has attended 12 shows and placed 1st in the majority. The next big event for Tom is the Royal Welsh Show; having placed 3rd last year he is aiming for 1st this time. Following this he will be competing at Oswestry, Burtwarton, Minsterley and Yorkshire to name but a few.

Recently Tom was awarded 1st place in the Young Handler class at the Spring Festival in Builth Wells and this now qualifies him to enter the national Young Shepherd of the Year competition which will be held in Yorkshire in October.
