Rydal Penrhos pupil achieves success in national Urdd writing competition

A talented writer at Rydal Penrhos achieved success in a prestigious national competition.

Lili Minton Roberts, a Year 7 pupil at the school, came away with third place in an Urdd creative writing competition, beating our hundreds of entrants for the accolade.

The 11 year-old was given the task of writing about her specific hobby, and wowed judges with her passion and enthusiasm throughout her piece.

She was awarded a certificate and medal for her efforts, and they were presented to her during Chapel on Monday, May 16.

Deputy head Tim Cashell, said: “For Lili to finish third in a national competition really is a wonderful achievement and one she should be immensely proud of.”

Acting head Roger McDuff, added: “Congratulations to Lili for such a wonderful effort, and this national achievement is one that is richly deserved.

“I know that she worked tremendously hard on her story and it clearly made a significant impression on the judges, and everyone at Rydal Penrhos is immensely proud of her efforts.”
