Fifth Form pupil Isaac Dai, 15, achieved full marks after taking part in the 2016 national Senior Maths Challenge which is aimed at students aged 16-19.
Following on from his success he entered the Intermediate Maths Challenge scoring 127 out of 130. This accomplishment earned Isaac an invitation to sit another challenge, the Maclaurin. Again, Isaac scored full marks in the paper and he was awarded a gold medal for his efforts along with a book prize which is only awarded to the top 50 students.
Mr Ian Hibbert, Head of mathematics and computing faculty, said, “Isaac has had a very successful year with additional challenges in mathematics and my department have been keen to support him as he continues to stretch his ability. Isaac is only the third pupil throughout my 26 year career to have received a gold medal for his achievements.”
