Oxbridge Success at Sexey's
10th February 2016

Sexey's students have broken all school records at Sexey’s by receiving offers from both Oxford and Cambridge last week.

Local girl, Lynsey Whittaker who boarded at Sexey's in the Lower School and is studying Biology, Maths and Chemistry will be reading Veterinary Medicine at Girton College, Cambridge. Whilst Holly Austin, also from Bruton and is studying English Literature, Chemistry and Biology has been invited to read Psychology at Oxford.

Commenting on Sexey's Oxbridge success, Assistant Head - Director of Sixth Form, Mrs Linda Nixon said, "We are incredibly proud of Lynsey's and Holly's tremendous achievement as well as that of all our hardworking U6 students who have secured places on competitive degree courses at the top universities in the country. This year we had nine of our U6 invited to interview at Oxbridge - a school record - and is a reflection of the exceptional teaching and high expectations at Sexey's School. With the best ever A-level results last year which rivals some of the best schools in the country, Sexey's continues to achieve and compete at the highest level and prepares its students for life beyond school."

“At Sexey’s School, our dedicated and committed staff work over and beyond to support all our students with their academic ambitions. Coveted offers from universities such as Oxford, Cambridge and Russell Group make up only part of our students’ academic journey here at Sexey’s. I am delighted for our talented staff and students, and I congratulate them on their success,” said Head Master, Irfan Latif.

Sexey's topped the DfE School Performance League Tables, which were published last week in Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire, Devon and Cornwall.

Our next Open Morning at Sexey’s for prospective students in the Lower School and Sixth Form is on Saturday 14th May 2016.
