Sexey’s School in Bruton, Somerset is the highest performing state school in the South West according to the School Performance Tables released by the DfE last week. The successful state boarding school topped the tables in Somerset, Dorset, Wiltshire, Devon and Cornwall with 82% of its pupils achieving five or more A*-C grades including English and Maths at GCSE. Sexey’s can also boast that 97% of its pupils are making the expected level of progress in English since Key Stage 2, with 85% doing the same in Maths.
Head Master Irfan Latif said the results were a ‘great achievement’. He said, ‘We are very proud of the record-breaking results and outstanding progress made by our hardworking students. The dedication and commitment of our staff, who go that extra mile, ensure that our students achieve beyond their potential both in and out of the academic arena. In a month where we were nationally recognised by Tatler as a ‘Top 20 State School in Britain’ and our U6 students receiving coveted Oxbridge offers, the school is moving in the right direction.”
Our next Open Morning at Sexey’s for prospective students in the Lower School and Sixth Form is on Saturday 14th May 2016.
