Oxford University success for Loretto pupils
11th January 2016

Loretto School is celebrating after two of their pupils have been offered a place this year at Oxford University.

Claudia Watson ( from Gullane, East Lothian) has been given a conditional offer to read Biological Sciences at Lady Margaret Hall and Esther Borsi ( from Musselburgh, East Lothian) an unconditional offer to read French and Spanish at Merton College.

Jonathan Hewat, Director of Communications at Loretto School, said: "Gaining admission to Oxford University is one of the toughest academic challenges a school leaver in the UK can face. Only the very brightest and most highly qualified apply, yet applications still outnumber available places by five to one.

"This year, with the aid of specific and specialist preparation, we are delighted that both Claudia and Esther have been successful in this most competitive of intellectual ordeals. It is a great credit to them both."

Loretto School boasts a remarkable university entry success rate with over 90% of pupils entering their choice of university and it was recently announced that it was in the top 7%  of all schools for adding academic value at A level.
