The education provided by Abingdon School and Abingdon Prep School has received a ringing endorsement from the Independent Schools Inspectorate, ISI. Following the inspection in November last term, the findings, which were made public on 4 January, praise all aspects of the education from Reception to the Sixth Form and in all areas from academic standards and extra-curricular activities to pastoral care. In addition, Abingdon Prep School was awarded an ‘exceptional’ rating for the “quality of pupils’ achievements and learning.” This rating is rarely awarded and is an outstanding achievement.
At Abingdon School, the inspectors reported that, “The excellent quality of teaching fulfils the aim of the school to provide a first-class education and is successful in promoting pupils’ excellent achievements.”
Speaking about the findings, Abingdon’s Head, Felicity Lusk, said, ‘To gain such a tremendous endorsement from this independent body is worthy praise indeed for the excellent standards of teaching, learning and care that are all part of the education that Abingdon and Abingdon Prep provide. I was delighted, not only by the superb comments from ISI regarding our achievements, teaching and learning but equally by their comments regarding pupils’ pride in their school and the caring atmosphere throughout. My colleagues and our pupils thoroughly deserve this wonderful acknowledgement.’
