Music Success for a Year 3 pupil
10th December 2015

Ratcliffe College Year 3 pupil, Sofia Demetriades, did remarkably well in the Leicester Competitive Festival of Music and Dramatic Art recently, winning a First Award in all three classes in she was entered (two in piano, and one in violin).

It was the first time she had entered the competition, so achieving 3 Firsts was even more impressive.

“I was really pleased when I won.  For my violin piece, I was against a boy who was 13 and a girl who was 16,” said Sofia, who is only 7 years old.

Sofia played ‘Variations in D Major’ by N. Paganini and practises every day.

Mr Daniel Jones, Assistant Director of Music at Ratcliffe, said, “Sofia is an outstanding musician of whom we are very proud.  She shows dedication and musicality well beyond her years and thoroughly deserves these awards.  She is a true star.”
