A pair of Rydal Penrhos pupils achieved phenomenal success at a golf event in Scotland.
Louisa Weber, aged 15, and Wilson Reyhan, 18, came away with the Team Nett title at the ISGA Scottish Open, held at the Kings Acre Golf Club, Midlothian on Monday, September 28.
German lower sixth pupil Louisa also claimed individual honours, securing the Overall Nett competition and the Girl’s Nett/Gross trophy.
Ian Richardson, golf co-ordinator at Rydal Penrhos, said: “This was a very strong field of competitors so for the team to perform as they did was a testament to them and they should be congratulated.
“Louisa in particular, was superb. She played sensationally well throughout the day and got her rewards, and I’m sure all their success made the long journey home a little shorter.”
Louisa took home the individual nett title after shooting a 77 on the day, a score that was brought down to 62 in accordance with her handicap.
She took the crown by four shots, beating individual gross winner Cameron Blair of Loretto into second place.
American Wilson carded an 81 score for his 18-holes, which gave the pair an overall nett total of 134 - enough to take the Overall Nett title from Loretto B, who finished one shot back in second place.
Director of Sport Allen Boyd, said: “To come away from any tournament with a winners’ trophy is a fantastic achievement, but to perform as they did so far from home really is a superb effort.
“We are working hard at Rydal Penrhos to give talented golfers every opportunity to improve on their craft, and performances like Louisa’s indicate that we are going about things the right way.”
