Ratcliffe achieves “Excellent” in every aspect
16th June 2015

For the first time in Ratcliffe College’s history, the Independent Schools’ Inspectorate (ISI) has rated the School to be excellent across all nine categories.  The Leicestershire school, a day and boarding school for children aged 3-18, was visited by a team of inspectors at the beginning of March and its report has just become available:

“The quality of academic and other achievements is excellent.   Pupils develop excellent knowledge, skills and understanding.  The curriculum is appropriate at all stages and offers flexibility which meets the needs of pupils in the school,” according to inspectors.

They found that “The pupils’ social awareness is outstanding; their very strong affection for their school community is profound and was very strongly evident in the pupils’ interviews.  For example, they were drawn into the School as it felt like a family.”

The report states that, “The quality of the pupils’ personal development is excellent throughout the school.  Pupils are mature, articulate and confident by the time that they leave the School.”

Headmaster, Mr Gareth Lloyd, said: “Needless to say, we were delighted to be judged 'Excellent' in every single category, a remarkable achievement. It is both a true reflection of the exceptional teamwork, collaboration and commitment of all stakeholders, and a just endorsement of the teaching and learning, in the deepest sense, that distinguish Ratcliffe College and the values that we hold dear.  Of course, there is always room for improvement, and under the guidance of the Senior Leadership Team, we shall be addressing recommendations in a timely and appropriate manner.”

Ratcliffe College is an independent school for girls and boys aged 3-18, situated just north of Leicester on the A46.  The school currently has 794 pupils, of which 110 are boarders.  A Catholic school that accepts children from all faiths within our diverse community, Ratcliffe College’s next Open Morning will be on Saturday 10th October, 9.30am – 12 noon, to which everyone is welcome.
