Paralympic silver medallist, Rik Waddon made a welcome return to Keswick School recently to deliver an inspirational talk to boarders in Year 7,8 & 9. Rik who won silver medals for time trial cycling in the Beijing and London Olympics is an athlete mentor who delivers inspiring workshops as part of the Sky Sports Living for Sport program. He introduced the pupils to six keys to success in the form of fun, practical problem-solving challenges. The keys – mental toughness, hunger to achieve, people skills, sports and life knowledge, breaking barriers and planning for success. As part of the initiative the next stage for the 15 boarders is to participate in a conservation project working with the National Trust in which they will take on the role of young rangers helping to improve the local environment.
