#BSAheroes: Llion and Sophie join COVID-19 fight
21st April 2020

Two Rydal Penrhos pupils have joined the fight against coronavirus from the comfort of their own home.

Llion and Sophie Morris, Year 9 and 5 pupils at the school, have been working hard to produce their own protective masks for keyworkers across the region.

They have already made a number of masks and will be distributing them to facilities throughout the community in the coming days.

This represents a wonderful gesture from Llion and Sophie, with the brother-sister duo making the masks alongside their remote learning commitments.

Llion is a current Wales sailing international and has achieved a significant amount on the water in recent years.

Sophie is another who is thriving in the Prep School both academically and during the wealth of extra-curricular opportunities available.

The school is also working hard to produce as many protective masks as they can for NHS staff and critical keyworkers at their Design Technology department.

Teacher Mark Harmsworth, technician James Bonser and Sixth Form pupil Jamie Lavery are leading the project.

Senior School head Sally Ann Harding, said: “This is a remarkable act of kindness from Llion and Sophie and we are incredibly proud of them both.

“They are two tremendously hard-working pupils who display the sort of compassion and community care that we look to install into each pupil learning at the school.

“Our critical keyworkers need our help more than ever and it is fantastic to see our pupils taking the lead to assist them.”
