Congratulations to Bromsgrove Preparatory School’s U13A boys’ hockey team, who have qualified for the National IAPS hockey finals.
Bromsgrove won their group with wins over King’s Hall 1-0, Perrott Hill 2-0 and St Hughes 3-0, without conceding a goal.
In the quarter final, the game against the New College ended 1-1 and the score remained the same at the end of Golden Goal, which meant the teams went to Penalty Flicks. Bromsgrove won with two converted flicks from Joe K and Jack W, but the hero of the day was Neel A in goal who made two great saves to not only qualify for the semi-final but also for the National Finals.
In the semi-final, Bromsgrove came up against a strong Cheltenham College side, who had knocked out last year’s National champions, Dean Close in their quarter final. Bromsgrove held their own in an evenly contested game but lost in virtually the last play of the game.
In the 3/4th play-off, Bromsgrove beat Hazelgrove 1-0, to finish a highly deserved third place.
