Horse riding as a new activity in the boarding house at Keswick School
24th January 2014

We have started horse riding as a new activity in the boarding house. Each term we have 8 sessions on a Monday night at a riding school about 10 miles away called Rookin House.  They have lots of ponies and horses, my favourite is Coral.  Mr Pickering takes us in the mini bus and when we get there Clare and Claire split us in to groups and each week we do different things, such as, hacking, stable management, indoor arena and games.  I used to have a lesson by myself but it is much more fun with other people.  We are also working towards recognised ARBS awards which can help me with my GCSE PE option.  I have to be able to jump the height of 1 metre and my teacher has been to assess me which is great.  At the last session just before Xmas we had ‘Pony games’ which were really funny, exciting and a bit nerve racking all at the same time.  Thank you to the boarding house staff for going the extra mile and making this happen for us.
