21st May 2019

Skiers from New Hall School, Chelmsford, returned triumphant from the ERSA (Eastern Region Snowsports Association) Schools Ski Championship Race at the Suffolk Ski Centre, Ipswich.

The New Hall skiers performed exceptionally well throughout the competition, with all four teams finishing as gold medalists. The winning teams were the Under 10 Boys Team; Under 12 Mixed Team; Under 14 Girls Team; and Under 14 Boys Team.

In the individual competitions, there were also some outstanding performances for the following students: Alexander Penneck for 1st place in the Under 14 Boys; Amelia Pietrzak for 1st place in the Under 12 Girls; and Maximilian Pietrzak for 1st place in the Under 12 Boys.

Mrs Jeffrey, Principal, said: “We are incredibly proud of the success of our dedicated ski team.  To be awarded in so many different age categories was a brilliant result. This outstanding level of success bodes extremely well for the future.”

Skiing has received significant investment in recent years at New Hall.  Alongside a successful academic programme, New Hall School provides excellent facilities and training for budding sports stars and fantastic music and performing arts provision.  The Catholic boarding and day school for students aged 1-18 has a distinctive ‘diamond model structure’ and a strong ethos of pastoral care, which supports students in their endeavours, allowing them to achieve success in a wide variety of fields.

The Eastern Region Snowsports Association is one of several regions in the country affiliated with the national governing body SnowSport England. The emphasis of the region is to encourage participation in snow sports through fun and enjoyment.
