Hundreds raised from Prep School's Comic Relief fundraising day
18th March 2019

Rydal Penrhos Preparatory School raised hundreds of pounds for a national fundraising campaign.

The school lent its support to the annual Comic Relief initiative on Friday, with a host of different activities taking place throughout the day to boost the impressive overall total.

Each year group came dressed in red with their very own Red Noses to mark the occasion, with the Year 5 duo Ellie Knight and Lucy Ranales-Griffiths speaking on the event’s significance at the weekly Celebration Assembly.

This was followed by a series of fun-filled games arranged by the Year 5 group as part of their Enterprise curriculum during PHSE sessions, and similar events were held during lunch to round off what was a very successful day of raising money.

A total of £587 was raised from the Prep School Comic Relief activities, which were added to the overall mark of £63 million at the end of the BBC’s national broadcast later that evening.

Half the money raised from Comic Relief goes to causes in the UK and half to those around the world.

Prep School Head Alison Hind, said: “We are always enormously proud to support worthwhile events such as Red Nose Day, and it was heart-warming to see our enthusiastic pupils taking the lead with their own activities to boost the overall fundraising total.

“They deserve an enormous amount of credit for their application in not only arranging the events, but ensuring they were carried out efficiently.”
