Prep pupils take part in World Book Day activities
8th March 2019

Preparatory School pupils took part in a series of activities as part of a nationwide reading initiative.

Staff at Rydal Penrhos devised an exciting schedule to lend their support to World Book Day, which took place on Thursday, March 7.

Each year group took part in Share a Story, which saw them split into pairs and discuss parts of their favourite novel or book and converse with their classmates about their favourite things about it and what they would change.

Year 5 demonstrated their love for the written work with some poetry reading, with Year 1 producing some impressive book reviews and even illustrated their very own

There was also time for every Rydal Penrhos Prep School pupil to take part in some independent reading, bringing their most popular or current book to class and continue their journey through their chosen novels.

Some pupils even sent in some pictures of the reading in a variety of unusual situations and locations.

Prep School Head Alison Hind, said: “We are always thrilled to get behind and support World Book Day, which is a fantastic initiative and highlights the importance that reading can have on a child’s overall development.

“Reading improves vocabulary, spelling and also heighten their respective imaginations, and it was heart-warming to see each year group really getting into the spirit of the occasion and producing some outstanding work in the process.”
