Libby Hughes cleans up to grounds of St Paul’s Church

A selfless Rydal Penrhos pupil has been taking time out of her busy schedule to work with a prominent venue within her community.

Libby Hughes, a Year 11 pupil at the school, has been giving up her time to clean up to grounds of St Paul’s Church, which is situated in Gorsedd near Holywell.

The 16-year-old used her own initiative to arrange this volunteering herself with the Churchwarden, and her work involved collecting, clearing and disposing leaves that previously covered the site.

Libby even braved the recent snowy conditions to continue to assist at the Church, which she plans to continue into the future as part of an ongoing project.

This is not the first time that Libby has done her bit for a worthy cause, with the GCSE pupil participating in Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life in 2017.

The women-only event started and finished at the Events Arena situated on Rhyl promenade, and Libby managed to raise a total of £700 for her efforts.

Senior School Head Sally Ann Harding, said: “This was a wonderful gesture from Libby and further proof of just what a selfless and well-rounded young woman she is.

“This is a busy time for her in terms of her GCSE examination preparation, and for her to give up her valuable time within her community is something she should be enormously proud of, as we all are here at Rydal Penrhos.”
