8th February 2019

A sports scholar and ambitious cricketer at Rydal Penrhos is about to embark on a landmark tour with one of the England’s leading Academy set-ups.

Arran Sen, a Year 8 pupil at the school, will be part of the Lancashire Cricket Under 13 squad that are heading to India on Tuesday, February 12 to launch a pilot project aimed at the club’s future Academy cricketers undertaking annual overseas tours.

A 16-strong squad will travel to Mumbai alongside coaching staff and parents to play five fixtures, as well as take to part in a development programme designed to improve their cricket skills in a challenging environment.

The tour is also designed to aid their development as people as they partake in charity work by working with the Dharavi Cricket Academy, as part of the Project Front Foot initiative – a charity partner of the Lancashire Cricket Foundation.

The young Red Rose side will also train with the Global Cricket School, a scheme founded to provide a holistic cricket experience that helps cricketers gain the competitive advantage. The facility aims at providing exposure to the differing conditions and skill sets required to succeed in a different continent.

James Sheridan, Lancashire Cricket non-executive Director, said: “This is a great opportunity for our Under 13s to gain invaluable experience at an important stage of their development.

“Not only will the cricket skills be of huge importance, but the personal and community activities that they will undertake will set them up for the rest of their lives.

“The Lancashire Cricket Foundation has been working with Project Front Foot for a number of years, and it will be great to take our Under 13s there to get involved in helping the academy and the kids who play cricket there.”

Arran has enjoyed a phenomenal amount of success since joining Rydal Penrhos as a Year 7 pupil, securing a number of notable milestones for the school and during his involvement with Colwyn Bay Cricket Club.
