7th February 2019

Rydal Penrhos’ Sixth Form Charity Committee have officially handed over their record-breaking fundraising total from the recent Christmas Market.

The group organised a fantastic event on Friday, December 14, which has fast become one of the highlights of the academic year, with the market once again raising funds for Ty Gobaith Children’s Hospice in Conwy.

A packed Sports Hall enjoyed a host of different activities throughout the event, with Commando X-Fit lending their inflatable assault course that proved to be a popular addition.

Local businesses were also in attendance, purchasing stalls for anyone looking to get their hands on some last minute Christmas gifts, and there was also a special raffle with a fantastic hamper up for grabs donated by Panzi’s Deli in London.

A virtual reality suite, racing computer game, a Hula game, face painting, and the ever-popular cake stall and barbecue were other notable highlights from the market, and a number of pupils across all age groups also helped out at stalls and provided entertainment during the celebration.

The event drew a fantastic response from the Rydal Penrhos community, raising a superb total of £1,827.14, which was handed over to Fundraising Manager Sarah Kearsley-Wooller by Head Boy Nick Fiorita and Alexia Radu on Friday, February 1.

Mrs Kearsley-Wooller, said: "The continued support of Rydal Penrhos School is so very much appreciated.

“It is thanks to the hard work and enthusiasm of this year's Charity Committee that the excellent sum of £1,827.14 was raised. As the only children's hospice in North Wales, this generous support will help us make the most of short and precious lives."

Ty Gobaith provides care and support to life-limited children, young people and their families from Shropshire, Cheshire, North and Mid Wales.
